1. Goods protected across similar groups: ionisation apparatus for the treatment of air or water (Part (1) of 1106, Part (1) of 1110);
2. water dispensers are similar to electric kettles, electric vacuum flasks and electric water boilers in 1104, and are cross-searched with electric kettles in 1104 in the 10th and earlier editions;
3. ozone generators for disinfection are cross-searched with ozone generators in Part (3) of 0910 in the 11th and earlier editions.
Note to Part (2): the former Part (2) — portable disposable disinfection pouches — was deleted in the 11th edition.
The parts of this similar group were formerly not similar to one another.
Practice notes (J&C)
This group covers disinfecting apparatus, water-purification apparatus, water dispensers, water purifiers, seawater desalination apparatus, ozone generators for disinfection, etc. Official notes: the cross-group protected goods “ionisation apparatus for the treatment of air or water” (Part (1) of 1106, Part (1) of 1110); water dispensers are similar to electric kettles and electric water boilers in 1104; ozone generators for disinfection are cross-searched with ozone generators in Part (3) of 0910 in the 11th and earlier editions. The former Part (2) (portable disposable disinfection pouches) was deleted in the 11th edition.
Water-purifier brands should cover both 1110 and 1104; water-filter cartridges are filed under “water filters” in this group, while disinfectants are in 0501 of Class 5 (practical tip). No additions or deletions to this group in 2026.
