The complementary fee is 100 CHF per party; if a complementary-fee party is included and there are more than 3 classes, 100 CHF is added per extra class, once per application. The Chinese basic filing fee is shown separately in CNY; J&C service fees are listed separately.
- Mark type: The tool calculates for an ordinary mark; collective and certification marks attract higher individual fees in some designated parties (see the WIPO individual fee table) and must be checked against the formal quote.
- Collection by CNIPA: CNIPA collects the fees as office of origin; its fee page lists no handling charge, and the amount and deadline are those in the CNIPA fee notice.
- Fee date rule: The fee version in force on the date CNIPA receives the application applies, provided WIPO receives it within two months of that date; otherwise the WIPO date of receipt applies. The tool uses the date of receipt; re-check when filing across an effective date.
- Dependency: For five years from registration the international registration depends on the Chinese basic mark; if the basic application is refused or the registration cancelled or invalidated, protection in the designated parties lapses (it may be transformed into national applications within the set period). The tool does not cost this risk.

Which applications does this tool cover?
A new Madrid international application with China as office of origin, using the same number of classes for every designated party. Subsequent designations, renewals, collective or certification marks and special fee reductions should be checked with the official calculator.
Why do some designated parties only charge 100 CHF?
When both China (office of origin) and the designated party are bound by the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol, Article 9sexies of the Protocol applies: even a party that normally charges an individual fee only receives the complementary fee in this relationship. Protocol parties that have not declared an individual fee also take the complementary fee; see the rules table for each group.
Is the supplementary fee always charged above 3 classes?
Only when the plan includes at least one party that takes the complementary fee and there are more than 3 classes: 100 CHF per extra class, charged once per application. If every designated party charges an individual fee, no supplementary fee applies.
Is the CNY figure the actual amount payable?
The CNY estimate uses the Bank of China CHF selling rate on the stated date, with no mark-up. CNIPA collects the fees in CNY at the Bank of China midnight selling rate on the date of receipt; the exact amount and deadline are set by the CNIPA fee notice.
What other costs are there?
Besides WIPO fees, if there is no Chinese basic mark yet, the Chinese online filing fee of CNY 270 per class is added (up to 10 goods or services per class; extra items are charged separately); J&C service fees are quoted separately. Replies to provisional refusals, local agents, post-registration declarations, renewals and subsequent designations are not included in this total.
Why does the filing date change the result?
Individual fees may change in the future. The tool applies the fee version in force on the chosen date; the binding date is the date of receipt by the office of origin or by WIPO as stated in the change notice. The expected filing date is not a substitute for the actual date of receipt.
How do I pass the plan to an attorney?
After calculating, copy the share link or the quote summary; the quote request carries the designated parties, class count, colour and basic-mark status, and the service fee is confirmed by the attorney.
Madrid or national filings?
It depends on whether a Chinese basic mark exists, whether the target countries can be designated under Madrid, and the balance between local agent fees and the dependency risk; national fees can be checked in Official trademark registration fees by country.
