Practice notes (J&C)
This group has four parts, which are not similar to one another: (1) semi-processed plastics, resins and rubber products (plastic sheets, rods and bars, rubber cords, ebonite, etc.); (2) non-metal pipe couplings, non-metal fittings for flexible pipes; (3) agricultural plastic film, tinted anti-glare films for windows, etc.; (4) single goods such as rubber mallets, gas-storage bags and buoys for fishing, not similar to one another. Official notes: raw or semi-finished rubber is cross-group protected (1701, Part (1) of 1703); Part (2) is similar to the hoses in 1704 and the non-metal pipes in 1909.
Unprocessed plastics are in 0108 of Class 1, finished plastic products are spread across the classes by use, and Class 17 covers only semi-processed goods; in 2026, “anti-glare films for windows (tinted)” in Part (3) was changed to “tinted anti-glare films for windows”. Plastic-sheet companies file in Part (1) of this group and also search plastic sheets for building in 1909 of Class 19 (practical tip).
