Notes on similar group 0205

1. This similar group is similar to Part (20) of 0104 and to 1912;

2. porcelain enamel (lacquer), vitreous enamel and glaze (lacquer, gloss lacquer) are similar to ceramic glazes in Part (4) of 0104, and are cross-searched with ceramic glaze in Part (4) of 0104 in the 10th and earlier editions;

3. paint thinners, thinners for gloss lacquer, turpentine (paint thinner), thinner, white spirit, mineral turpentine and lacquer thinner are similar to varnish solvents in Part (10) of 0104 and to paint strippers in 0302;

4. waterproofing powder (coating) is similar to waterproofing and heat-insulating powder in 1705;

5. shellac is similar to 0207.

This group covers paints, varnishes, coatings, thinners, porcelain enamel, waterproofing powder (coating), shellac, etc. Official notes: this group is similar to Part (20) of 0104 (putty) and to 1912; porcelain enamel is similar to ceramic glazes in Part (4) of 0104; paint thinners, white spirit, mineral turpentine, etc. are similar to varnish solvents in Part (10) of 0104 and paint strippers in 0302; waterproofing powder (coating) is similar to waterproofing and heat-insulating powder in 1705; shellac is similar to 0207.

Insulating paints are in 1706 of Class 17, not in this group; anti-rust oils and anti-rust preparations are in 0206; paint brushes and other implements are in Class 16 or Class 21 (practical tip). No additions or deletions to this group in 2026.
