Notes on similar group 3006

1. Goods protected across similar groups: confectionery (3004, 3006), cereal-based snacks (3006, 3010), rice-based snacks (3006, 3010), wheat germ for human consumption (3006, 3008), crispy rice cakes (3006, 3010);

2. oat-based food, oat flakes and oatmeal porridge are similar to husked cereals for human consumption and flakes (cereal products) in 3008, and are cross-searched with cereal flakes in 3008 in the 8th and earlier editions.

Practice notes (J&C)

This group covers bread, biscuits, cakes, mooncakes, waffles, oat-based food, etc. Official notes: confectionery (3004, 3006), cereal-based snacks, rice-based snacks, crispy rice cakes (3006, 3010) and wheat germ for human consumption (3006, 3008) are cross-group protected goods; oat-based food and oat flakes are similar to husked cereals in 3008.

In 2026, “butter cream (icing)” was added (butter cream was deleted from Class 29). Baking brands should also search 3004, 3008 and 3010; bakery services are in Class 43 (practical tip).
