1. This similar group is similar to 1211, and is cross-searched with fire engines in 0916 in the 12th and earlier editions, vehicle bearings in 0750 in the 11th and earlier editions, and cigar lighters for automobiles in 0924 and with 1203 (the whole group) in the 9th and earlier editions;
2. goods protected across similar groups: dining cars (vans) (1201, 1202), catering vehicles (vans) (1201, 1202), sleeping carriages (1201, 1202), electric vehicles (1201, 1202, Part (1) of 1204, 1205, 1210), motor vehicles for use on land, in the air, on water or on rails (1201, 1202, Part (1) of 1204, 1209, 1210), remote-control vehicles (not toys) (1201, 1202, 1205, 1209, 1210);
3. motorcycles and scooters (motorcycles) are similar to motorised bicycles, electric bicycles, motorised tricycles, electric tricycles, mopeds, scooters (vehicles) and electric mobility scooters (for the mobility-impaired) in 1204, and are cross-searched with scooters (motor vehicles) in 1204 in the 10th and earlier editions;
4. vehicle reversing alarms and anti-theft devices for vehicles are similar to the first paragraph of 0920;

Practice notes (J&C)
This is the largest group in Class 12: automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, forklifts, trailers and their parts (wheels, bodies, engines, brakes, etc.). Official note 1: this group is similar to 1211; note 3: motorcycles are similar to electric bicycles, scooters (vehicles) and electric mobility scooters in 1204; note 4: vehicle reversing alarms and anti-theft devices for vehicles are similar to the first paragraph of 0920.
Changes in 2026: clutch linings for land vehicles were added (with note 7, cross-searched with clutch linings in 1702 in the 12th and earlier editions) and fire engines were added (moved in from 0916 of Class 9, with note 1 amended accordingly); the number of “bearings (vehicle parts)” was changed to C120024.
Practical tip: automobile-parts companies should search 1202, 1211 and 0748/0750 of Class 7 (engine parts, bearings) together; electric cars filed as “electric vehicles” cover 1201, 1204, 1205 and 1210; automobile sales services are in Class 35, and repairs are in 3707 of Class 37.
