1. Goods in the different parts of this similar group are not similar to one another;
2. Part (1) is cross-searched with control cables for machines, engines or motors, mechanical control devices for machines, engines or motors and control devices for machines, engines or motors in 0748 in the 10th and earlier editions and with electric door closers and electric door openers in 0924 in the 9th and earlier editions;
3. Part (3) is cross-searched with lift transmission belts in 0734 in the 12th and earlier editions;
4. automobile engine flywheels, automobile engine crankshafts and automobile engine camshafts are cross-searched with automobile parts and automobile accessories in 1202 and other goods belonging to this similar group in the 7th and earlier editions;
5. filters (parts of machines or engines) are similar to filters for cleaning cooling air (for engines), oil filters (engine parts), air filters (engine parts), diesel filters (engine parts) and fuel filters (engine parts) in 0748 and hydraulic oil filters in 0749, and are cross-searched with oil filters, air filters and diesel filters in 0748 in the 10th and earlier editions;
6. electrically operated brushes (machine parts) are cross-searched with electrically operated brushes in 0748 in the 10th and earlier editions;
7. clutch linings not for land vehicles are cross-searched with clutch linings in 1702 in the 12th and earlier editions.
Practice notes (J&C)
This group has three parts, which are not similar to one another: (1) general parts such as couplings, machine shafts, pulleys, filters (machine parts) and mechanical seals; (2) bearings; (3) transmission belts, conveyor belts and rubber tracks. Official notes: filters (parts of machines or engines) are similar to the filters in 0748 and hydraulic oil filters in 0749; automobile engine flywheels, crankshafts and camshafts are cross-searched with automobile parts in the former 1202.
Changes in 2026: Part (1) gained “clutch linings not for land vehicles”, and note 7 cross-searching with clutch linings in 1702 in the 12th and earlier editions was added (those for land vehicles were added to 1202 of Class 12 the same year). Bearing companies should note that Part (2) and “bearings (parts of vehicles)” in 1211 of Class 12 (added in 2026) belong to two different classes (practical tip).
