Biochemical catalysts are similar to industrial amylase, industrial enzyme preparations and industrial enzymes in Part (17) of 0102 and to catalysts in Part (19) of 0104.

This group covers chemical reagents, diagnostic preparations, test papers, bacterial and microbiological preparations, stem cells, electrophoresis gels and the like for scientific and laboratory use that are neither for medical nor veterinary purposes. Official note: biochemical catalysts are similar to industrial enzymes in Part (17) of 0102 and catalysts in Part (19) of 0104.
Diagnostic preparations and chemical reagents for medical or veterinary use are in 0501; the names of the items in this group all carry the qualifier “not for medical or veterinary purposes”; in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) companies should file in both groups (practical tip).
In 2026, “fluorescent dyes for scientific use” was added (fluorescent dyes for medical use were added to 0501 the same year).
