9-23-10 - the 6-1-01 entry was modified from "Wood chips for smoking and flavoring foods." Wood chips for flavoring wine is in Class 31 since it imparts flavor without burning as the wood chips in Class 4 must do - the chips are often introduced in the wine making process for wine that is not stored in wood barrels but that benefit or are expected to have a woody flavor element. Including the word "flavoring" in the Class 4 ID can cause confusion with the wood chips used for flavoring only in Class 31.
