Facing mortar is mortar exposed to view or to outside elements that is used to bind, fill, and seal spaces between building blocks, such as stones and bricks. Mortar is acceptable wording; further specification is acceptable, but it is not required. 02-16-2017 - The previous note indicate that mortar is acceptable wording. However, "mortar" and "mortars" are no longer acceptable because they are indefinite and encompass goods in multiple classes, e.g., mortars for kitchen use in Class 21, mortars being firearms in Class 13, and mortar for building in Class 19.
