03-22-2007 - The word "prevent" was changed to "treat" - regarding care of inanimate objects, prevention is a Class 1 characteristic; treatment is a Class 5 characteristic. 03-05-2020 - Antimicrobial preparations are substances that destroy or suppress the growth of organisms and microorganisms. These finished products are classified in Class 5 because they function as Biocides, which are in the Nice Alphabetical List in Class 5. Although chemical preparations for preventing the growth of organisms are generally classified in Class 1, the biocidal nature of the preparation controls the classification.
