US Trademark Classification (USPTO Trademark ID Manual)

US trademarks are classified under the goods and services classification maintained by the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). It follows the international Nice Classification standard and adds detail reflecting US examination practice.

Choosing the correct class of goods or services is a key step in a trademark application. Each class covers a specific range of goods or services, and applicants should identify the class according to the items they use or intend to use and complete the application accordingly.

Data version: USPTO Trademark ID Manual (Acceptable Identification of Goods and Services), applying the Nice Classification, 13th edition (NCL 13-2026). Official data retrieved on 1 October 2026 and published on this site the same day: 71,543 entries (including 2,932 example entries). Term IDs, classes, English descriptions, status and effective dates follow the USPTO; Chinese terms are J&C reference translations. The "version" shown for each entry is the Nice edition under which it was added or last modified. We synchronise with the USPTO periodically; the next update is planned for January 2027. Translation revision: 13 October 2026. Reviewed Chinese reference notes are available for 6,984 entries; other substantive notes are shown in the official English.
