Iran
Intellectual property matters in Iran are centrally administered by the Intellectual Property Center (IPC), which operates under the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (MIMT).
The system is based on the Law for Registration of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks (2008),
with national examination as the main route and progressive alignment with WIPO, the PCT and the Paris Convention.
Although Iran is not a member of the Madrid Protocol, it actively participates in regional and multilateral IP cooperation and was among the first in the Middle East to introduce electronic filing systems and international classification standards.
