These activities are generally performed by the accrediting body, but may also be performed by a third party to the order and specification of the accrediting body. These services are different from the act of accreditation, which is the validation or bestowal of approval on a service provider, and is not considered a service under the Trademark Act. This description should not be used in connection with accreditation marks, which are used by third parties to indicate that their services are "accredited" or approved by the accrediting body. See TMEP §1306.06 et seq.
