08-20-2009 - Seminars are an educational activity and are classified in Class 41. However, the arranging and conducting of business conferences and exhibitions involve a business service in Class 35. 01-01-2021 - Pursuant to Nice 11-2021, the Class 41 Nice Explanatory Note requires classification of arranging and conducting of conferences, congresses and symposiums in Class 41, regardless of the subject matter or overall purpose of the service activity. Identifications for arranging and conducting of business seminars must indicate the field or subject matter of the seminar in order to provide public notice and to enable the USPTO to reach informed judgments concerning likelihood of confusion under the Trademark Act. See TMEP §1402.01.
