9-15-11 Protective clothing in Class 9 is clothing that is life preserving or that protects from life threatening injury or accidents. Please note that while sporting articles such as padding also protect against bumps and bruises, such injury is not usually life threatening or fatal. As a result, those items fall in Class 28 as sporting articles. On 03-22-12 this 09-05-11 entry was modified with the addition of "with built in body armor" to emphasize why these goods are in Class 9 and to further distinguish them from regular clothing in class 25 or sporting articles in Class 28.
